Alaska: Denali National Park, an Unforgettable Journey

Wonder lake Denali, Alaska

When you hear the name ‘Alaska’ the first picture that comes up in your mind is snow and frozen grounds but this is the misconception. For me, Alaska is one of my favorite destination! Feels like I will never get enough of it!

Alaska is the largest state of United States of America and famous for many tourist sites:

  • Denali National Park.
  • Glacier Bay National Park.
  • City of North Pole.
  • Juneau.
  • Kenai Fjords National Park.
  • Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park.
  • Anchorage.
  • Fairbanks.

Among them, my personal favorite is Denali National Park. Have you ever heard about this place? It is the heart of the Alaska range and one of the favorite destination for tourist according to Trip First an online hotels and resorts booking website.

Denali National Park

The interesting thing about the Alaskan Range is that there is completely different climate between the north and south side. The south side has moisture, transitional maritime continental climates with cooler summer and warmer winters. But the north has drier climate and huge temperature fluctuations to the north.

Denali lies in the north of the Alaska. At middle elevations, you can find tundra. And at the highest elevations, lies glaciers, rock, and snow.

It has an extraordinary variety of wildlife, more than any other in the United States. You name it, grizzly bears, black bears, caribou, Dall sheep, moose, golden eagle, gray wolf, beavers, and so on. The park is also well-known for its bird population and fresh ten species of fish including trout, salmon, and arctic grayling.

Denali park rangers maintain a constant effort to keep the wildlife wild by limiting the interaction between humans and park animals. We cannot feed the animals, as it is strictly forbidden and may cause adverse effects on the feeding habits of the creature. But you still can view animals from safe distances.

Besides wildlife, you can also find over 450 species of flowering plants fill the park, and can be viewed in bloom throughout summer. Goldenrod, fireweed, lupine, bluebell, and gentian filling the valleys of Denali and are often used on postcards and in the artwork.

If you are planning to visit Denali National Park, these are the most favorite hotels according to the reviews mentioned on TripFirst and Trip Advisor. Try to book this hotel before you reach there through any online hotel booking site to not to face any inconvenience because most of the days in the year the hotels are completely occupied:

  • Denali Backcountry Lodge.
  • McKinley Chalet Resort.
  • Denali Backcountry Lodge.
  • Grande Denali Lodge.
  • Denali Bluffs Hotel.

The best time to visit Denali National Park depends on your choice whether you like to enjoy the snow or a clear sky. In May and June, you can enjoy snow in lots of areas surrounding Denali and mountains are also covered in snow, despite snow you can still have pleasant and enjoyable experience. From September to March you can find clear skies, at this time of the year you can see mountains and greenery. In July and August, it rains heavily there. From my personal experience, I would suggest visiting Denali in September because it was magical and you can find all the colors of nature in this month and a better chance of seeing most of the wildlife.

The Best way to reach Denali is by air you also have the option of cruise lines if you are coming from the United States or any part of South America. If you are coming to Alaska by air, the closest International airport to Denali is in Fairbanks. Which is at a distance of 2 hours’ drive from Denali which means after landing you needs to continue your trip by road. Anchorage is also an option for air travelers if you would like to see the southern side of the country. The road trip from Anchorage to Denali is about 5 Hours. Ones you will reach there you are going to have an unforgettable lifetime experience.

All You Need to Know About Sheepskin Boots

A woman wearing Sheep skin boots

As the name suggests, Sheepskin boots sometimes referred to as Ugg boots are made from sheared sheepskin. The use of sheepskin boots is by no means a new phenomenon with records available that show the use of this form of footwear as long back as 500 BC.

A woman wearing Sheepskin boots
  • Despite the existence of this kind of footwear long before fashion even existed, Sheepskin boots or Shearing boots became a global fashion trend only during the mid-2000.
  • Warmth & comfort are the two common attributes that anyone who has used Sheepskin boots would tell you about. The inside of the boot is lined with fleece which itself has excellent insulating properties & helps draw away moisture from your feet.
  • Not only do these boots keep your feet dry but they also keep your feet warm. These boots can easily suit your formal wear and you can also choose some attractive colored sheepskin boots for your party. You do not need to wear any socks with these boots because the inner pads of these boots can easily protect your feet from cold air, moisture, and dust.

Points to Remember When Buying a Sheepskin Boot

  • They are Not Waterproof

Genuine Sheepskin boots are not waterproof, so if you see a dealer who says otherwise then he is not selling genuine sheepskin boots. However, there are several fake sheepskin boots available in the market, which cost you very less price, and they will assure you that their boots are water-resistant. But original sheepskin boots are not waterproof and you must be aware of this fact before buying.

  • Don’t Wash or Dry Them

Sheepskin consists of an anti-bacterial substance known as lanolin. This oily substance helps keep your boots soft, and comfy it also acts against external agents such as dust mites. If you do go on to wash these boots, then there is a chance that the lanolin in them will be destroyed & the boots will thereby become hard & rough.

  • Wide Variety of Styles & Designs to Choose From

Tall Sheepskin boots which cover well over the angles are the most popular choice, especially among women however sheepskin-lined footwear is also available like shoes, clogs & even slippers. As for the color, it is always better to go for a darker tone as they will hide minor stains. Now sheepskin boots are available for men and women. Therefore, you can choose these boots as per your requirement only.

How Would You Choose the Best Sheepskin Boots and How Would You Maintain the Same?

This is perhaps the trickiest part when it comes to buying sheepskin boots is choosing the size ideal for you. These boots with repeated use tend to stretch & become loose around your feet. So, choosing a size higher than your current size is not going to be the best option. Not exactly, similar to how they stretch out with repeated use, sheepskin boots tend to compress upon washing them. It’s tricky but you will come to love your boot once you find the perfect one for you.

  • Immediately upon buying your new sheepskin boots, the first thing you need to do is to spray on some form of sealant, which will help protect it from dirt & water.
  • As for minor stains on them, the best thing to do is to clean them using a soft, dry cloth. If it’s not a minor one, then using some form of wool cleaning product would be the best way forward but don’t directly pour the cleaning agent on the shoes.
Checking label on Sheepskin boots

Despite what many dealers will tell you these types of boots are not made to withstand strenuous activities. It is suggested to buy these sheepskin boots from original dealers, and you can also buy them from the manufacturer’s official website also.

Five Factors Why You Will Enjoy Your Solo Trip in Europe

How to enjoy your solo trip in Europe

Europe can be considered one of the most expensive continents anyone could ever go to. It is also where most of the top countries in the world can be found namely France, Italy, United Kingdom, Turkey, Spain and much more. Europe is a continent that is really ideal for families and couples and only a few are going there for a solo trip because the misconception is that if you travel there solo, you will spend more money because you don’t have someone to share with your expenses unlike travelling as a couple or with your family.

There are different factors to enjoy your solo trip in Europe despite being alone.

See the list below:

  1. Independence

Travelling alone is not bad at all. In fact, it’s a trend now all over the world. While it may be rare for some to travel alone in Europe as most people would really go to Asia as the fares are likely cheaper, it is still advisable that you try going to Europe alone. The great thing about having a solo trip in Europe is that fact that you will learn how to be independent. You will learn to wash your own clothes and you will learn to do things on your own. Try going to Paris to see the beautiful Eiffel Tower and visit other hidden gems. It’s okay to get lost sometimes.

  1. Own Phase and Space

Europe is really a great place to visit because a lot of people are saying that it’s convenient there and there are signs and symbols and you wouldn’t find it hard to find your path to your next destination. Also, going there solo means that you will be able to travel at your own phase and you will also have your personal space. The Sagrada Church in Spain is one of the most beautiful places in the world and if you are worrying too much about being alone, just go there and pray to God that he guides you throughout your journey.

  1. Self-discovery

There is nothing like discovering yourself. Travelling is not just about being with family and friends enjoying a boat ride to Lake Como or whatnot, travelling is also about discovering what you can do, the things you probably never knew before. It’s really a great thing to travel solo in Europe and you should definitely consider that. Tip: Try going to a retreat house to meditate and reflect on life. Again, travelling isn’t just about seeing, it’s about feeling.

  1. Self-growth

When you get to discover more about yourself, you will also grow as a person. Self-growth is great because by then you will be stronger as a person and as a traveller. Europe is filled with different personalities and engaging yourself with them is also a way to grow as a person. Knowing the cultures and tradition of Europe is also great because you will know that each and every one of us is different yet we can still unite as one. Tip: Visit United Kingdom. It’s filled with great history and you can also visit The Buckingham Palace. Who knows? You might be able to meet the royal family.

  1. Meet New People

Meeting new people is probably one of the best things about travelling especially in Europe. It’s great to not only be independent and to not only discover yourself and grow but also to meet new people along the way. Making friends is great because you will be able to know more about their country and it’s also great to be with people sometimes.

Europe is definitely one of the best places in the world and it’s great to witness the beauty of it. If you happen to travel there solo, don’t fret. Just believe what you’ve read and things will go smoothly and you’re good to go.
